Building tests & exams

Create the test

1. Go to Tests and click New test.
2. Name the test, choose Exam mode and click Create.
3. Add sections one by one — for example Listening first.

Add instructions and a shared stimulus

1. Each section starts with a group stimulus shared by its questions.
2. Add instructions as text (with bold, bullets and other formatting), an audio file or a video.
3. To narrate a text block, click Record, record your voice and click Save voiceover. Learners see the text and hear your voice together.

Add questions

1. Click Add question and choose the question as text or audio.
2. Add the answer options — as many as you need — and click the correct one.
3. Set the points and a time limit in seconds or minutes, then click Add question.

Reading section with dropdowns

1. Click Add section and name it Reading.
2. Put the passage in the shared stimulus.
3. Add a question, choose Cloze dropdowns, and add options for each dropdown.
4. Select the correct answer for each, set points and time, and click Add question.

Settings and publishing

• Add test instructions and change the Start button label.
• Set Maximum attempts.
• For CELPIP tests, change Exam appearance from Levrij to CELPIP so learners see the CELPIP-style interface.
• Toggle behaviours: shuffle questions, allow pausing, allow reset and retake.
• Customise the warning shown for unanswered questions.
• Click Save settings, then Publish test. Learners can only see the test once it’s published.

Add a test to a course

• From the test: search for the course, pick the module and click Add to course.
• Or from the course: open Course content, click Add, choose Quiz/Test, name it, pick your test from the dropdown and click Add.
